Taking a break today

Been moving my stuff to my new place. Trying to move as much as possible before my folks come back.

Been spending the whole day reading my old letters and cards as well.

Sweeping and sneezing. Amazing how much dust there is when i remove boxes and stuff out of my room.

Feeling kinda moody somehow.

Will be at Hyatt tonight watching whatever match is on. Gosh I need a drink!

RE: THU 29 JUN 06

can you tell i am dagging my feet to move out? cos me quite sad too...

I am so excited!

Ohmigod!

I finally found Simon's address on one of the cards he sent me!

ME thinks me going to write to him!

I hope he has not shifted or anything.

keeping fingers crossed!

Top 10 people I want to meet

I am moving to my new place soon and in the process of clearing my room. I pulled out 2 boxes which contains hand written letters (before the age of emails) and reminiscent about all the different relationships I had built up and lost over the years.

Whatever happened to these people?

In no order of importance.

  1. Leonard Chia - Schoolmate 86-91. You know when teachers made you line up in Primary1 with the same height boy or girl? He was my partner. Boyfriend in 96. Hahaha. That's what I call full circle. I see you on a friend's friendster but your girlfriend seems kinda possesive so I am not contacting you. YET!
  2. Loh Wanli - My best friend in New Town 92-95 and one of the prettiest girls in our cohort. I am really sad to have lost contact with you. Where are you?
  3. Noel Yeo - Hey I know you are still around! I am going to call you soon! Will show you what you sent me when you studied in Australia. Sweet!
  4. Jerry Koh - The guy who sat next to me in 90-91. Had a real big cruch on him then.
  5. Simon - A boy I talked to from 93 - 94 from St Patrick's or SJI? Apparently somebody meet him at a party and said if you want to have a good time (?!?huh?!?) call this person (moi). We became quite close over the phone but never met.
  6. Jason Lim - Whatever happened to us meeting up? Did you have a crush on me in 92? How about 93? And 2003? I can't believe you were the Starhub officer I was talking to on the phone when I needed trouble shooting. Small world isn't it?
  7. Darryl - My tennis coach in 94-95 in New Town. 15 years older then me. I saw you at the open carpark next to borders 2 months back. I was in my car and you were walking real fast, wanted to call out to you. Looking good ya?
  8. Adeliza - Best tennis buddy 92-95. Met you at the Agilent Run last year. I would love to sit down and catch up with you!
  9. Claudia and Sheena - 96 JJC. Very supportive friends! And also very hiow!

Letters from Dad. RE: THU 29 JUN 06 Part 2

girl

What do you think Dad will feel when you move away from Dad? Of course, I will be sad.

(At this point I feel my heart doing a squeeze, my throat has a lump, my nose starts to block and eyes start to tear.)

This morning at about 10.00 a.m. we set out to explore the outdoor mkt- checked the guide book and found that that there was one open on a Thur-this was at Bastille. So after looking at the map, found that we need not change train-it was a straight line trip-just some 8 stops .So arrived at train station, bought a carnet of 10 tickets. Hopped on to the train and on arrival at Bastille, emerged into the street and found the open mkt right outside the stn.

The mkt is like our pasar malam -with all sorts of things on sale, vegetables, fish, clothings as well as people busking. At about 1200 noon, felt hungry , went to buy Mcdonalds-well, it's pricy about S$17.00 for 2 fish burger, a Coke and some fries.

At about 2.00p.m. we left place and took train to the Concorde at Ponte Maillot for shopping.Well, it's again very pricy. So left for home and on the way, bought some fruits.

Whilst walking home, met Boy back from work. This was about 5.20 p.m.

Mum cooked crabs and boiled soup for dinner. After dinner, took bath and now at computer.Time 10.42 p.m.

Continuation of log

Mum did not want to go out as she had to pull her hair again.said tomorrow, we will go out. Mum cooked assam fish curry. No football today as the WCup is into its Qtr finals i.e on 30 Jun.

So read all the old newspapers of ST. Damn tired on the eyes.

Dad

p/s are the chickies chirping? Making a lot of noise as they are hungry all the time.

Letters from Dad. Tue 27 June continues

Girl

Well done. Hope you will be making big bucks more often.

Continuation of log - Again mum did not want to go out.So stayed at home and talked everything about Boy, you everything. Cooked lunch/dinner of kidney ginger, kang kong sambal. Come 5.00p.m watched football bet. Brazil/Ghana.Brazil 3-0.

So had dinner at 5.00p.m. Mum talked to Boy/Wei Chin about life in general. Mum discourse in life. Boy did not talked back. Then came to discuss your coming wedding. Boy said that you looked a bit out of shape and hoped that by this time, you have put into plans to look pretty and fit into that georgeous gown that you have chosen. Wah, your mum said that you have plans, defended you . I kept quiet but in the end, I told Boy that yes, my Girl will be beautiful and that the brother will be proud of her. So pl look into this beside making big bucks. So it looks that when I am back to S'pore, we will not spoil ourselves at the food centre at Ave2/3.

So by this time, near to 9.00p.m. So stopped to watch football bet France/Spain. France won 3-1. Again by 11.00p.m sleepy but mum now only took her bath. But I went to sleep. That for Tue 27 Jun.

I love you for humouring me!

MUACK!!!

Letters from Dad. 26 June Paris

GIRL
We are not on the same time zone. You are 6 hrs ahead. So when I am up, its time for you to get out of the house. For eg, it is only 2 plus over here but in S'pore, it's 8 plus.

Today, mum said not going out as she had to shit.you know mum when it's shitting day, she does not move at all. Tried to make yam cake aftyer readinmg Wei Chin's cook book. Bought ingredients yesterday. But after cooking, the yam cake turned out to be too gooey i.e not hard but still OK to eat.I think not enough wheat flour but too much rice flour..

Time 2.28p.m. just finished my yam cake and laundry washing also finished. Mum took them out to dry. Hah,in Paris there is no such thing as hanging out in your balcony to dry .Everything is hidden indoors or spin dry. Wei Chin has a drying apparatus in the hall. A little of the sun can reach it but on the whole, dried by the dry weather here. i.e humidity very low. And you feel very dry at night and need to drink water aftera few hrs sleep.

Got to surf the net .Bye2. BTW, how much have you shifted? I told mum about your shifting and now she asked how much have you shifted?

Dad

Is that you?

I was flipping through the Singapore transport guide and saw a NUTC income ad.

Funnily enough, as a real estate agent, I have flipped this guide a zillion times. Flip until the cover came off already serious.

And then I choked. Is that who I think it is posing for a "Happy Family" complete with wife and kids NTUC Income picture?

Is that you Jerry? Jerry Koh? The boy who sat next to me in the whole of Pri 5 (1990) and chat with me non stop? The boy who let me copy his chinese dictation? The boy with those real cute dimples? swooonnn....And halfway through Pri 6 got switch placs with another boy and somehow we do not even acknowledge each other presence in class. Werid huh?

Guess what? You are on my top 20 list of people I want to meet! I hope you are doing fine :)

Yes, yes and yes. I had a major crush on him. hahhaahahahahahhahahahaahhahahahhahah

Small girl crush lah!

Letters from Dad. MONDAY 26 JUN 06

Letters from Dad. CONTINUATION - 25 June Paris

Continue

Went out -destination Chinatown-in French-name is Porte D'Iuvy. SO we took the Metro-the undergound train as it was difficult to get parking there as well as expensive-$6 an hour.

Metro stn started was Pont de Neuilly, just 100 m outside Boy's house. So we got up the train, cost $2 person (1 Euro) BTW the train has only 1 fare, no matter how far you travel. Then we had to change to a new line, the pink line at Palace Royale Musee de Louvre to get to Porte D'Iuvy. So after half an hour of chugging, arrived at the destination. Got outside, damn it was raining, not very heavy but you could get wet. Wei Chin shared her umbrella with Mum.Boy and I walked in the rain.

Time now was about 10.30 am. So went inside a supermkt. It was chaotic, many people, mainly Asians like Vietnamese/Chinese and also a few white and boy, things were damn expensive when compared to NTUC prices. Walked around to scout for things to buy.Well, the supermrt had every ingredient you need for Chinese cooking and most things are from HK or Vietnam. After about 1/2 hr, Boy said we should go and eat our lunch. Arrived at restaurent and found it was too early. The restaurent only opened at 11.45 a.m So again we went to a supermkt but now a different one. Wah, they had Thai durians for sale, but the prices were monstrous- a durian cost about $20.This mart was bigger than the one we first went in.Again, it was crowded. And chaotic. Walked around and found many things avaailable like crabs, etc.Ha, crabs were not expensive like NTUC prices.

Time now 1200 noon.Went to the Chinese restaurent. Boy ordered a beef dish, a sotong dish and a brinjal cooked with salted fish. Also orederd tim sum , chicken feet, a low mei kai and carrot cake. So enjoyed the lunch but the bill was expensive. 64 Euros, about $130. In S'pore, probably $50. And the portions were damn small. Well, thiswas PARIS.

So after lunch, we went back to the supermrt, and did our shopping. By the time, we finished, each had to carry 3 to 4 plastic bags. Boy also bought roast pork and roast duck. I did not ask for the prices, probably damn expensive.

Still raining but just a drizzle and we walked to the Metro and went home. Time now was about 3.30p.m, not time for yet for football. Football starts at 5.00p.m. So took a bath. Mum also did the same.

5.00p.m. watched football. Boy and Wei Chin now eating the roast pork/duck. I was too full after I took a beer (cost only $2). Well, England won 1-0.So after the match, went to sleep as the next match was at 9.00p.m.

Got up at 8.20p.m A little hungryand went to kitchen, heated up a can of stewed pork and with salted fish, had rice. Mum still in dreamland. Saw Portugal/Holland game. Portugal won 1-0. So after game, went back to sleep. Time Spore 5.00.a.m. local time 11.00p.m.

Douglas Foo, Sakae Sushi - My class with ERC

Went for my mentoring class yesterday. The mentor for that session was Douglas Foo, founder of Sakae Sushi.

Admirable and humble.

A man of great honour. He choose his words very well. He answered all our questions coherently.

I liked the part that he always places the well being of his staff and customers on the top of his priority lists.

He used to own a garment factory in India. When asked if why he was still involved with that business when he told us that he must concentrate on his core food business, he answered that if he were to pull the plug 120 families would lose their bread.

When talking about his food, he emphasizes that the company is accountable to it's customers. The food must be prepared well, because the person in the even that after consuming falls sick could be someone's loved ones, family, brother sisiter, father, children.

He also talked about the whole holistic approach of Apex Pal and how they organized a trip for the MINDS children to come and watch how fish is cut and prepapred and also took part at making sushi. Each child worked together with 1 staff for this program. Getting staff involvement allows the staff to look beyond their work only.

I must say this man has a big heart.

I applaud him.

Keep it up, Mr Foo!

Miss my folks

I miss my folks already.

Probably miss my dad more.

Been raining all day log. I like. Cozy to sleep in. Even when I open my front door, my birdy is still sleeping in her nest and not fly away like it used to.

Hope the eggs hatch soon.

Our time difference makes it very difficult to talk to each other unless we agree to a stated time.
Mumsy woke up at about 9.00a.m She hadher breafast of bread and biscuits with jam/margarine.I had 2 pieces of bread fried with eggs. Of course, mum had a drink of fruit juice. Me-asusual coffee. Then your bro and Wei Chin appeared and they took out their dish-supposed to contribute a dish to the party-they bought prawns fried with vegetables-offered 1 prawn and 2 prawns to Mum to taste. Not bad but for $60 its damn expensive. Well, they then left and be back by 5.00p.m.

Coaxed mumsy to take a walk. Now time about 10.30 a.m.So we took a long walk and ended up at the Arc du Triump.Quite a landmark in Paris. After a long breather, started back but made a wrong move-walked away from home-in the opposite direction-along the famous Chomp du Elysee. But luckily, recognised landmarks and retraced footsteps back in the right direction. Now already 4.0p.m. Started at 10.30a.m.

Wah, damn tired .Told mum to take a rest and walked into a supermkt. Bought some French sausages, a 6 pack of beer and mum had a tub of ice cream-coconut.

Arrived home a 4.20 p.m Cooked lunch? at 4.30 p.m or dinner? But enjopyed the meal. Mum had her icecream .Me-no beer yet .Boy and We Chin came back at 4.50p.m. and watched the football bet Germany and Sweden. Ger won 2-0.

Mum after watching about 1 hr went to sleep. And after the game, took my bath and now writing to you.Think time to sleep-only 8..12p.m. here but S'pore time 2.12a.m.

So good nite.

Have more sales of HDB or whaever you can sell, rent etc.

Letters from Dad. RE: DAY 3 Jun 23 FRIDAY

Girl

To answer Qn, it is Mum who doesn't want to go out. And after makan, Mum went to pull out her white hair until 3.30p.m. and told Boy/wei Chin too tired to go out. That's that for the day.

At about 4.00p.m. Boy/Wei Chin went out to buy goodies for their party at some embassy get-together on Sat.So Mumsy carried on pulling hair and then took her bath. I saw the W Cup match bet.Uk/Tunisia. And after the match, mum now wanted to eat.I took my bath and then back to the kitchen. As usual, had her bread/biscuits.I fried a piece of fish and ate it with the leftover fried rice.

Boy/wei Chin came back and sat at the kitchen table and talked about everything under the sun. Mum kept her word i.e no nagging at Boy.

At about 9.00p.m., back to the living room for football. So all 4 of us watched football and munched on tidbits brought by mum from JB.Halfway thru'I fell asleep and woke up, the game was over.Time 11.00p.m. (Spore time 5.a.m.)

So this is the HAPPENING on Friday 23 Jun 06. Am writing to you at 6.26 a.m. local time.

Been busy

It has been some time since I update my blog. A friend asked me why I have not been doing it. I do not know why as well. Maybe I have been busy. It seems that I have reached a certain point in my life this year where I am reflecting on my life so far.

Yesterday I told my husband that I want to continue leaving in my parents's home even after we get married. I love this place. It holds so much memories for me. I have been here since K2. I was a really teeny tiny cutie tot you know?

All the memories of hating to wake up to go to school.
All the memories of coming back from school and watching television at 3pm on TV8.
All the memories of being caned by my mother.
All the memories of toting to the market with my dad and washing his car with him on Sundays.
All the memories of playing with my neighbours, riding around in our bicycles squishing milipedes and scraping myself.
All the memories of having to come home to tell my mum I failed E Maths.
All the memories of fighting with my brother.
All the memories of my father siding me.
All the memories of my mother siding him.
All the memories of me crying in my room.
All the memories of having period cramps at 3am and crying to my mother.
All the memories of my mother rubbing Axe oil on my tum tum till I fall asleep.
All the memories of talking my ex-es on the phone till the wee hours of the morning.
All the memories of wanting to leave home after a fight with my mummy.
All the memories of making up with my mother.
All the memories of eating steamboat during Chinese New Year.
All the memories of hugging my mummy and daddy when I am in my "mood".
All the memories of listening to my mummy nag.
All the memories of listening to my daddy talk about his childhood.
All the memories of playing stupid games with my brother.
All the memories of my FAMILY.
ALL MY MEMORIES :)

I am feeling this squishy feeling around my heart, a lump in my thoart and tears in my eyes.

I am a sentimental old fool. But I love this home I have. I am not ready to leave. I don't want to go.

Must all good things come to an end?

Can't I just stay here forever?

She decided to eat bread bought by Girl yesterday. So after eating ,mumsy just talked about your brother and wife etc.Usual talk about young people, how fortunate they are and now you are involved. She said you and Wei Chin are the same, no need to keep house, bed also not made and just walked out of the house.(BTW, Wei Chin left about 9.30 a.m for her class).

Time 1145 .am. Persuaded mum to take a walk to the neighbourhood supermkt. Mum agreed and we left to the mkt. Mum bought some bread, biscuits etc.I bought some biscuits also, the type that goeswith coffee and some beef luncheon meat. Came back and cooked for lunch.Mum ate her bread and biscuits.

Very cute email?

I love my dad. To me he is the best father in the world. BESTEST!!!

I never really need to hide anything from my father. I can speak freely even though I know he may not approve some of the things that I do. But my father seriously accepts me for who I am and never ever interfer with my life.

I am Bobo and my daddy is Giant Bobo. When you see him one day you will know why.
