Douglas Foo, Sakae Sushi - My class with ERC
Went for my mentoring class yesterday. The mentor for that session was Douglas Foo, founder of Sakae Sushi.
Admirable and humble.
A man of great honour. He choose his words very well. He answered all our questions coherently.
I liked the part that he always places the well being of his staff and customers on the top of his priority lists.
He used to own a garment factory in India. When asked if why he was still involved with that business when he told us that he must concentrate on his core food business, he answered that if he were to pull the plug 120 families would lose their bread.
When talking about his food, he emphasizes that the company is accountable to it's customers. The food must be prepared well, because the person in the even that after consuming falls sick could be someone's loved ones, family, brother sisiter, father, children.
He also talked about the whole holistic approach of Apex Pal and how they organized a trip for the MINDS children to come and watch how fish is cut and prepapred and also took part at making sushi. Each child worked together with 1 staff for this program. Getting staff involvement allows the staff to look beyond their work only.
I must say this man has a big heart.
I applaud him.
Keep it up, Mr Foo!
