3rd day in Paris - 10th April 2007 - Part 4 - Moulin Rouge and Arc de Triomphe at night

Pigalle - The train station for Moulin Rouge.

One of the LV staff told me Pigalle means something dirty in French? Can anybody enlighten me?
Pigalle is also a red light district in Paris so I was told.

Our main aim here is to see MOULIN ROUGE!

Our day tickets. Costs us 5.20 Euro . Unlimited travel on Line 1 and Line 2 in 1 day.
Very worth it if you simply take trains like us!

Off to Champs Elysees for the the Arc! Unlimited travel on our train tickets remember?
Anyway, mu bubi wants to ytake pictures of the Arc at night so here we are :)
The Arc de Triomphe is one of the most famous monuments in Paris. It was commissioned in 1806 after the victory at Austerlitz by Emperor Napoleon I at the peak of his fortunes. Laying the foundations alone took two years, and in 1810 when Napoleon entered Paris from the west with his bride Archduchess Marie-Louise of Austria, he had a wooden mock-up of the completed arch constructed. The architect Jean Chalgrin died in 1811, and the work was taken over by Huyon. During the Restoration construction was halted, and would not be completed until the reign of King Louis-Philippe, in 1833-36. -
